On March 20 and 21, 2023, the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering and Medicine (NAS) will host the 22nd Committee on Offshore Science and Assessment (COSA) meeting to provide updates on BOEM's scientific studies and environmental assessment programs. Scientists from BOEM's Center for Marine Acoustics – along with NOAA scientists – will discuss efforts aimed at reducing potential impacts from offshore wind development.
Meeting Agenda: The COSA 2023 Spring Meeting will be focused on:
- Hearing from BOEM and NOAA staff regarding acoustic impacts from wind energy site characterization and recent whale standings
- Hearing updates from BOEM regarding progress in addressing recommendations from the NASEM “First-in-Class” report
- Meeting the new BOEM Director
- Hearing about the new NASEM activities relevant to BOEM
